JM-Reynaud Magic Stand II

Design limitations of current loudspeaker stands. It is well known that the rigidity,weight, and floor-decoupling characteristics of a loudspeaker stand can dramatically alter the performance characteristics of the loudspeaker with which it is used, and there are many stands on the market today that feature various combinations and applications of these design elements. However, all current loudspeaker stands share a design flaw with regard to the establishment of standing waves between the floor and the upper part of the stand, resulting in unintended anomalies in frequency and phase response.
A new paradigm. In order to overcome the inherent design limitations of current loudspeaker stand technology and the associated coloration and smearing of the program material, Jean-Marie Reynaud has designed his type of loudspeaker stand, the MAGIC STAND.
The MAGIC STAND II® uses an exclusive active system of two Hemholtz resonators tuned at two different frequencies, with the front surfaces arranged to optimally diffract low frequency signals from 100 to 400 Hz. The spectacular results achieved with the MAGIC STAND are not only audible, but also measurable, as shown by the pink noise analysis frequency response curves provided in the slide below.

n the first test condition, the loudspeaker was placed on a remarkably heavy and inert hollow metallic stand (lower curve). In the second, the loudspeaker was placed on a MAGIC STAND (upper curve). Heights of the two different stands was the same, and the microphone was situated in the same place relative to the loudspeaker.

RESULTS:
With the metal stand, the frequency response plot demonstrate a variance of 8 dB and a 50 Hz downpoint of -6 dB, while the MAGIC STAND test resulted in only a 4 dB variation in frequency response and a 50 Hz downpoint of only -3 dB.

"LUCIA," which means ‘the light’ in Italian, is a compact 2-way bookshelf loudspeaker system with harmonious proportions.
Designed with the same rigor as the most advanced models in our range, it concentrates all the know-how of the JMR brand.
It offers a naturally warm, well articulated sound with a rich mid-range and a silky treble that is utterly without projection or hardness. Its energy is sufficient to fill a room from 10x to 20m convincingly with lively and embodied music.
Designed to work in combination with affordable electronics, its electroacoustic features offer a very easy load for amplifiers.
Its installation will not require any special precautions because thanks to a frontal laminar event port, it can be installed close to a wall. It offers a beautiful credible and very stable stereo image thanks to good phasing of its components.
It is the first step into the rich and ‘live’ universe of JMR sound.
ACOUSTIC ENCLOSURE
Bass reflex loading principal with laminar front event port. 19mm MDF cabinet assembled under press, round front edges to avoid edge effect on front baffle.
WOOFER:
Manufactured in France this small 13cm woofer has a coated paper cone animated by a 25mm coil on aluminum support. Its basket is made of ABS resonance free material. Its central ogive phase plug is made of rubber and so completely inert.
TWEETER:
Also manufactured in FRANCE, impregnated fabric dome with 25mm coil cooled by ferrofluid and textured ABS horn improving its efficiency and directivity.
CROSSOVER SECTION:
12bd/octave slope at 3500hz.
Hand crafted crossover printed board free using polypropylene capacitors and ferrite coil for the woofer with large section pure copper wire. All components are directly soldered one to the other with silver ROHS soldering.

For the development of FOLIA JUBILEE, we established very precise requirements:
It had to be able to be associated with moderate powered electronics. It could not impose positioning constraints in a room. And above all, it had to meet the long established JMR criteria of musicality and sensitivity. And all within in a very reasonable budget. We are pleased to report that the FOLIA JUBILEE has achieved a complete success in meeting all these criteria, which are difficult to combine.
Very lively and playful, the Folia Jubilee knows how to handle the colors and tones of musical instruments and human voices with surprising ease for a speaker of its size and cost. The mid-range is rich and luminous, at the same time precise and very physical. The low end is astonishing in view of its volume, and there is neither strain nor noticeable limitations in this register.
Its loading principle makes it possible to use almost no damping material, so the lowest octaves have excellent readability: there is no feeling of the constriction often present when using such a small sized enclosure.
Because it is designed so that it can also be hung on the wall or leaned against it, you can obtain even more body and energy in the low register in these locations. The laterally and mirrored event ports diffuse a complementary and very homogeneous sound field in the low-mid-low register so that the presence of the wall behind them will not disturb the readability in this portion of the spectrum.
The stereophonic image is stable and precise and opens wide beyond the loudspeakers, indicating a rigorous phasing of all the components.
The latest optimizations for this Jubilee version have allowed us to further improve the performances of this small and very endearing loudspeaker system. Thus, the use of an aluminum basket, more rigid than the ABS one, allowed us to improve the pulse response and therefore the dynamics. The phase plug on its tweeter improves its directivity and its linearity. The large-sized velvet felt on its front baffle allows it to diffract the first reflections on the cabinet and improves the quality of the sound stage. We took the opportunity to modernize its aesthetics and give it a more upmarket character thanks to the rounded edges of its front as well as the large roundedness of its horizontal rear edges. Finally, it is offered now in two finishes: black satin and a very beautiful lacquer tri-layer pearly white.
The FOLIA JUBILEE should please music lovers seeking a sound with a refined tone and without artifice or caricature. It will provide hours of listening without fatigue and weariness and in all points faithful to the sound philosophy of Jean Marie Reynaud’s products.

The BLISS Jubilee takes up the concept inaugurated by the BLISS Silver which was first in its time to benefit from a strict and rigorous pairing of all its components. This technique aims to obtain a perfect similarity of electrical and mechanical performance of the pair of speakers for a perfectly harmonious musical result.
In many respects, the BLISS Jubilee is based on an entirely new development. We find the stylistic codes of the Jubilee range with wide fillets on the rear horizontal edges as well as rounded front edges to minimize border effects. Thanks to the use of the golden ratio, the proportions of her cabinetmaking are more harmonious. She is from the start much more attractive.
Technically sophisticated, the new Bliss is equipped with the drivers of the EUTERPE Jubilee: the new 17cm woofer and the excellent impregnated silk dome tweeter using a 28mm voice coil.
Free from any coloring or "box sound," the new Bliss offers an extremely lively and embodied sound and a beautiful brightness that is entirely free of projection effects or harshness. The sound image is wide, deep and stable: proof of careful and rigorous phase setting.
The axial fixation by pressure of its woofer makes it possible to relate the mechanical reference of the mobile equipment to the back of the enclosure. This principle significantly improves the impulse response of the system. The middle register is more open, more articulate and clearer of all the artifacts related to the coupling of the woofer with the front baffle of the cabinet.
Its 12db / octave crossover network is handcrafted using our best components:
- Silver-plated capacitors with identified direction of winding, they are specifically manufactured for JMR and use JMR HP 1132 silver / copper cable terminations.
- Air coil with very low resistance using a 1mm section pure deoxygenated copper cable.
- Non-inductive wound resistors.
- Internal connections made entirely with our silver / copper cable JMR HP 1132 .
-"In the air" wiring (components directly welded to each other without the use of a printed circuit to minimize insertion losses) hand-assembled on an anti-resonant support.
All components are measured, sorted and matched within a tolerance of 1% to achieve perfectly identical performance. From then on, the sound image and the tones are perfectly coherent and the setting in optimum phase.
To optimize its performance in terms of bandwidth and sound image, it should be associated with the Magic Stand II . The long hours of listening necessary for its optimization and thus validate its development were carried out on these supports.

Like the ABSCISSEJUBILÉ, the EUTERPE has undergone a major overhaul: everything is technically new in this floor-standing speaker which retains its predecessor’s proportions but adopts new drivers and a new crossover.

We took advantage of this technical redesign to apply the new stylistic features of the Jubilee range advantageously refining its silhouette.

As usual, it was through patient laboratory study, combined with long hours of comparative listening that we were able to improve substantially all of the electroacoustic parameters of the EUTERPEJUBILÉ..

We approached its design with fresh eyes: while we wanted to keep its loading principle and its volume, we replaced the woofer as well as the tweeter and completely revised the crossover.

The results go beyond our expectations and set a new standard in this category of product. It sounds even more alive, much more luminous, and particularly coherent, with rich and varied tones. Its stereophonic image is impressively extensive, deep and stable. As with all of the Jubilee speakers, its deep bass is well articulated and has a very nice density, providing a substantial and clear sensationof impact. Listening seems perfectly fluid, without breaking across the spectrum. It opens amazing listening perspectives and far exceeds its predecessor on both technical and musical criteria.

Extremely versatile, the EUTERPEJUBILÉ will delight music lovers who enjoy a variety of music by providing hours and hours of listening without fatigue. Located at the core our our range, the CANTABILE has always had a very strong attachment to its creator, epitomizing the sonic aesthetic so dear to JMR.
Fluidity, nuance, spontaneity, agility and sophistication typify this compact speaker of a sober and timeless design.
Its slim silhouette with its small top-mounted tweeter head overlooking the gracious proportion of its enclosure is typical of some of the most famous JMR productions and so is clearly identifiable.
Research and development conducted over the last few years in advanced fields of acoustics and electronics, have enabled us to achieve remarkable improvement in musical performance compared with just a few years back. The CANTABILE Jubilee has benefited from the results of this research achieving a remarkable degree of sound realism and maturity.
We have completely revised the crossover and have designed a new enclosure for the new particularly efficient silk dome tweeter. The shape of the tweeter enclosure has been optimized. The diameter of this enclosure has increased significantly and is positioned further back on the cabinet to allow ultra-precise dynamic phasing. Its length has been increased, and the curve of its profile softened.
The low resonance frequency of the tweeter and its very low rate of distortion have enabled us to lower the crossover frequency to 3 kHz, thus increasing the speaker’s overall coherence. The slope of its 12dB/octave crossover offers a cross point with the medium driver at only 0.2 ° phase shift, and its directivity is particularly low.
The crossover makes uses of the fewest possible components, making the Cantabile Jubilee much more reactive and even easier to drive than its predecessor. The entirety of the component values and their nature were reviewed to obtain a more alive and vivid speaker.

Although its size is ultra-compact for a floor stander loudspeaker, the CANTABILE Jubilee offers a particularly spacious, wide and deep soundstage which has incredible spatial accuracy. Performances unfold not only in width but also in height and reach, beyond the geometry the enclosure. This new Cantabile remains unflappable: even when asked to handle very large differences in sound levels, there is no trace of projection or harshness. What we hear from the Jubilee Cantabile is light and shades: the tiny inflections of instrumental play naturally follow, without false light; transients are vivid and accurate without compromising the overall harmonic envelope.
The truthfulness and humanity of the middle register of the Cantabile has always been its principal asset noticed by music lovers. This Jubilee version of the Cantabile retains what has made this model successful since its inception, but now there is even more fluidity and air. This high-end passive loudspeaker brilliantly perpetuates JMR's tradition of presenting an extremely musical system in a compact design, with acoustic capabilities comparable to a floorstanding loudspeaker.
Heir to a long tradition of exceptional loudspeakers, the VOCEGRANDE in its turn respects music through its humility and transparency, creating the immediate feeling that "the loudspeaker has disappeared physically" to give way only to music. It builds a close and very strong bond between the listener and the performer, thanks to a rigorous respect for instruments, their tessitura, the spaces in which they blossom. The process of creating an acoustic loudspeaker is above all scientific and technical, and often laborious; but sometimes it can be the occasion for a magical encounter... And this is the case with the VOCEGRANDE.

Not only did my studies lead to a remarkable design, but it was the research itself that brought this wood and metal sculpture to life... It is often said that a creator gives life to the objects he designs. With the VOCEGRANDE, not only have I revealed the soul of a speaker, I have also been able to give body to the impalpable.
This extraordinary speaker overwhelmed me from the very first moments I heard it, rewarding my obstinate ambition to reach ever further into the heart of the music. As I listen to it, I can't help but think of Claude Debussy's sentence:
