Product Description
Audia Flight DAC board for FLS series
The optional digital board for Audia FLS 1 and FLS 10 is not a saving solution, but an excellent alternative for everyone who wants to upgrade a streamer or older CD player or use the computer as a playback device. The circuit board may seem inconspicuous at first glance, but it hides no less than nine regulated power supplies. One of them supplies the USB input separately, making it independent of the quality of the current at the transmitter end of the USB cable. Solutions with active USB cables are therefore obsolete. The AKM 4497EQ is used as the DAC. This is hidden under a heat sink to ensure constant working temperatures. It can process up to 32 bit word length and 768 kHz sampling rate; 8-fold DSD is also possible as a signal. The matching sample rate converter also comes from AKM Japan. On request, the PCM input signals can be sampled up to 32/384. DSD upsampling to 4x DSD is also possible. In addition, there are no fewer than seven digital filters to choose from. Upsampling and filter settings are saved separately for each of the inputs, the inputs can be named individually. There are six digital filter settings specified by AKM and an Audia digital filter to choose from. The six AKM filter settings differ in their impulse behavior and frequency response. Depending on the music genre, you can find different preferences.
Dither, a modulated noise floor to minimize DAC distortion, can be activated for each input. The difference is subtle, but especially those who like to hear recordings from the early days of the CD will appreciate the better flow in the music presentation. The USB input offers the option of bypassing the sampling rate converter on the digital board. Upsampling can thus be set on the computer side and passed on directly to the DAC. Since the USB input is managed by its own processor, there is also a socket for software updates by the sales department on the board itself. In terms of sound, the Audia Flight FLS digital board can easily compete with current DA converters in the even higher price range. The owner has already invested in the high costs for the housing and power supply of such a device when purchasing the FLS device. An additional power cable and small signal cable are also not necessary and of course the FLS device processes the signals of the digital board fully symmetrically. The digital board can be combined with the phono board or RCA board. The digital board and the XLR board cannot be operated at the same time. |
